21 Asbestos Management for Duty Holders
Regulation 4 in the CAWR Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations in 2002 identified the need to manage asbestos in non domestic property. This need transpires into a duty and the duty holder would normally be seen as the employer, facility manager or indeed perhaps the freeholder. The duty applies to any building built or started to be built before November 2002 and requires a risk and hazard assessment and management system to be developed. This risk and hazard assessment would normally be expected to identify the following:
- • Presence of asbestos
- • Possible presence of asbestos
- • Condition of asbestos
- • Quantity and likely exposure
- • Potential for damage
- • Contractor or unauthorised exposure issues
- • Logging of all parameters
- • Management of systems
This one day course provides the duty holder with a purpose written training program recommended and nationally adopted by the HSE and their training partners of which we are one.
